A Testimony
In July of 2007, when I found out I was pregnant, I didn’t know where to turn. I was 18 and alone. Due to circumstances beyond my control, and very little support, I was left with nowhere to live.
After visiting the CPC for my first ultrasound, I was referred to Sarah’s House for a safe place to stay, by the pastor at my church. I was nervous about moving on to this next chapter in my life. I spoke to Dianna and she made me feel welcome and confident that I was making the right choice to give my child life, and raise him myself.
The next week I moved into Sarah’s House and began the program. I felt so comfortable with the women in the house and knew that this would be the perfect place for me to be throughout my pregnancy. During this time, I learned a lot about having a child, and the responsibilities that come along with it. I truly believe that Sarah’s House not only gave me shelter, but also prepared me for the journey ahead. The parenting class that I took was very informative and answered questions that I knew I would ask at some point. Consistent emotional support and understanding for my situation definitely helped me stay positive during that rough time. I was also getting counseling every week which was no doubt, a great way to express what I was going through. Someone was kind enough to also donate a car; solving my problem of commuting 60 miles to and from work every day. I stayed at Sarah's House throughout my pregnancy and on March 20, 2008, gave birth to my beautiful son, Coleton Joseph.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for the program at Sarah's House. I am forever grateful and feel so incredibly blessed to have been given so many opportunities.
I was not a believer prior to becoming pregnant. However, with everything I’ve been through, the love I’ve received and the things I’ve seen change in my life there is simply no other way to explain in. The Lord’s work is so eminent in this ministry. I thank God daily for every single person who helps support and encourage this program. I hope to someday impact someone’s life, if even a fraction of how much Sarah's House has for me.
God Bless
